Link Your Aadhaar Card to HDFC Account to Avail LPG Subsidy

Under the PAHAL (Pratyaksh Hanstantrit Labh) scheme, also known as the Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG (DBTL) scheme, the Indian government transfers LPG subsidy directly into the bank accounts of eligible consumers. To receive this benefit, you must link your Aadhaar card to your bank account and update your Aadhaar details with your LPG distributor.

The government ensured that this was possible by linking the Aadhar card directly with the bank account, so that each person gets the benefits of the subsidised rates without having to run around. While there are other means to get the subsidy credited, it is recommended that one link their Aadhar and bank account to simplify the process.

Why Link your Aadhaar to Your HDFC Bank Account?

For HDFC Bank customers, the key advantages include:

  • LPG Subsidy (DBT): Receive the government's LPG subsidy directly in your HDFC Bank savings account every time you purchase a cylinder at the market rate.
  • Other Government Benefits: Receive pensions, scholarships, MNREGA wages, and other welfare funds directly into your account — eliminating middlemen.
  • Aadhaar-Enabled Payments: Use Aadhaar-based payment systems such as BHIM–Aadhaar Pay, biometric Micro-ATM transactions, and UPI payments through Aadhaar.
  • Fraud Prevention: Biometric locking via UIDAI's website or the mAadhaar app helps protect your Aadhaar-linked bank account from misuse.
  • KYC Compliance: Aadhaar serves as a valid KYC document and simplifies the account verification process.

  • For new PAHAL registrations, a one-time advance deposit may be made into your account to get you started on the scheme.
  • Subsidy amounts vary from month to month and are set by the government. Currently, under Ujjwala Yojana, eligible beneficiaries receive Rs.200 per cylinder.
